We are currently recruiting for a Woodlands Accountant to be based at one of our sawmills in the BC Interior. The Woodlands Accountant will be responsible for assisting the Divisional Accountant and Woodlands operations staff with financial and management accounting, reporting and analysis.

What You’ll Do

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual internal financial statements for the Woodlands Operations.
Production, Sales, and Inventory entries, tracking, and reporting.
Interpret and execute logging contracts, review and approve contractor payables.
Review capital road building costs and prepare amortization entries.
Prepare financial statistical entries.
Prepare Balance Sheet reconciliations, reviews and analysis.
Manage accounts receivable.
Assist with proforma performance tracking.
Calculate log inventory valuations.
Assist with budget and forecast preparation.
Liaise with internal and external auditors.
Remit external and governmental reports.

What You Offer

At least 2 years of accounting, woodlands or operations experience preferred
CPA designation, actively working towards a CPA designation, or equivalent education and experience
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
Forestry industry experience would be considered an asset
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Self-motivated to work independently
Ability to effectively and courteously communicate information and clarify requirements
Knowledge of internal controls and their application
Take personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work
