Department/Program: Indigenous Education
Supervisor(s): Taryn Kuhne, Joann Smith, Karen Smith
Duration of Position: October 1 to March 31, 2020
Number of Hours Per Month: 8 -16
Rate of Pay: $14.40/hour

- Work closely with Indigenous Education team (Student Navigator, Coordinator, Director, Elders)
- Assist with student recruitment in events and activities as needed
- Work with Student Association, Advisory committees and any other committees as needed and appropriate
- Assist with planning, hosting events and activities for students and community
- Act as a mentor for students
- Support for Elders in residence program
- Oversee student use of AGP lower level

Qualifications/Skill Level Requirements:

- Current full-time College of the Rockies student (at least 60% course load or 3 courses in each semester). Part-time students will be considered if no qualified full-time student applies
- Indigenous ancestry Preferred (First Nation status or non-status, Metis and/or Inuit)
- Community volunteer/work experience
- Good organization, networking, communication and leadership skills, or a strong desire to develop these skills
- Basic computer and office skills
- Ability to work well with others and independently
- Ability to travel occasionally (will be assisted with this)
- Ability to work in confidence with staff, students and community
- Desired but not required: Knowledge of First Nation, Metis and/or Inuit history and culture
- Desired but not required: Able to tutor on some subjects
